concatenate vs link table- expression changes

Can anyone explain with example on how the chart expressions have to be changed when the data model follows concatenate vs lable. I read it like - it will be choice between set analysis vs flag.

The same chart expressions will work with the data model having link table or concatenated fact table.

You need to add flag if doing concatenation to counter the different tables , however it depends on the requirement and the model.
