correcting typos in script

We have a situation where spelling mistakes and capitals are causing repeat site names when I link QV to one of my databases.

Unfortuately the field in the db is free text and not a drop down. Can I fix this in the QV script so there is only one occurrence?

e.g uses are entering SITE A, Site A, site a and ste A (these are all the same sites)

you can use capitalise(Field name) it will give Site A for all but unfortunately not for ste A
