is it mandatory to learn Qlikview coding

Hi Sir,Madam,

I am new to Qlikview tool and i having knowledge on Cognos. here me question is, i have gone through the Qlikview tool and able to do simple sample reports. as per my observation, there is separate Qlikview language coding syntax as like Java, oracle.

Is it mandatory  to learn Qlikview language coding or we can just proceed with Sql's ?.

Whatever the tool or Technology to get into ..mandate to learn the methodology . Because u can't use other lang functions into this . for that u can go through with this help

In QlikView, there's are 3 'languages':

- load script (SQL like, where you load and process the data)

- macros (VBScript or JScript, to automate things on events)

- expressions (Excel syntax like)

You can live without the macros, although they help a lot in some cases.

If you don't want to scratch a bit on the surface you will need to learn some new things whereby it will be not very difficult for someone with good experiences of SQL and other BI tools to adapt this knowledge to Qlik.

Maybe this: Books and literature is a starting point for you (quite often offers packt.com special proposals to get ebooks for only 5$ - if you catched their newsletter you won't miss such offer).
