Then what are you asking? What action should initiate the movement from sheet 1 to sheet 2?

If you label the object with the same Object ID found in the General tab of any object, they will automatically become a linked object.  If you right click and copy the object, when you paste it you'll get the option to paste it as a linked objected as well.

The text box "about this app" will probably set a variable to some value that makes a set of hidden objects appear out of nowhere. The Close text will set the variable back to its initial value, making the objects in front go into hiding again. You can do all of this using text boxes and Conditional Show conditions (see the Properties->General tab in text object).

Best,

Peter

Ok, let's recreate this in the simplest way. You can add your own objects and variations once you master the technique.

  1. Create a new QV Document
  2. In Settings->Variable OverView, create a new variable called vShowOverlay and set its value to 1. Close the dialog.
  3. On your Main sheet, create a text object with text "About this document" and a transparant background. On the caption tab, resize the object so that it is no larger than the text string. On the Actions tab, add action of type External->Set Variable, enter vShowOverlay in the Variable field and 1 in the Value field. Save and close the dialog.
  4. Next to the new text ovject, create another larger text box with a white background. Do not put it in front of the first text object  On the Layout tab, select Show Conditional and enter vShowOverlay = 1 in the expression field. On the same tab, set Layer to Normal. Save and close the dialog.
  5. Again create a new text object on top of the white one. Put it in the top right corner. Make the background transparant and enter a text value of "CLOSE" or something. On the layout tab, select Show Conditional and enter vShowOverlay = 1 in the expression field. Set the Layer to Top . Add an action of type External->Set Variable, select variable vShowOverlay and set Value to 0. Save and Close.

All objects should be visible now. Click the "CLOSE" text...

Best,

Peter
