link between QV and PowerPoint

Hi,

I am trying to create a link between the data in QV and PowerPoint.

Basically, I want to update the source data (i.e. from excel or database ect) and have that update in QV wich would in turn update the power point slide.

I have seen some things on here on how to do this, but I am having some difficulty in making this work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Hi Thomas,

out_of_the_hat I have no idea - but it is possible to export data from QlikView to Excel, and it is also possible to make a ppt slide automatically use data from an Excel file -> voila.

Maybe the forum at cleverforum.de would help (they have a sub-forum for ppt)

Following on from DataNibbler's suggestion, if you go down that route, what do you need QV for? It would seem redundant to go Excel-> QV-> Excel-> PowerPoint as you'd only be passing data tables in and out of QV, I think.

You could poke out a QV object using ExportBitmapToFile and then pick that up from a folder into PowerPoint, perhaps.

You could just drag and drop sheet objects from Qlikview into MS Office applications such as Powerpoint. The object is linked and they can even interact with the object.

I've tried this, but when I update the data in excel (my source data in this case) QV will update correctly, but PowerPoint or Excel does not update accordingly.

I may be missing a plug in, but I'm not sure

Powerpoint/Excel should be pulling the object from the Qlikview application. Are you using the Desktop or Server report? Also, after you update your source data, did you reload and save the Qlikview application?

Hi Kwok,

I face the task of creating a "marketing presentation" for our new director. It should not be a real sales_presentation as we already have QlikView running - well, I'll spare you with the details.

=> The question is:

- How much of an effort is it to paste QlikView_objects into a ppt (pptx) presentation, together with the necessary
controls so that it becomes possible to click in the presentation?

- I assume QlikView has to be open during the presentation for this to work?

Thanks a lot!
