minimum column width for traffic light gauge in straight table

HI

I am trying to show a red/green dot in a straight table for marking good/bad values.

Tried for a long time and discovered finally that

a) the gauge is only displaying when the property dialog is closed, Apply is of no use for this.

b) the dot starts to shrink when the column with is less than 3 cm on my screen, with smaller column width it simply disappears

Could not find any setting that changes that behaviour. Need a column width that will just show a the dot without the empty space to the right of the gauge. Maybe use different dot-images instead of the gauge?

It is the normal behaviour, I don'y no why. Most probably due to some limitations of the chart engine.

My gauge shows like this.

Is it what you want?

Make it simple... Why don't you use simply the background color of the column? Just create a column with expression = '', but add an expression in the background properties.

Hi Michael

Thanks but a dot is requested and coloring the cell will give me a rectangle

Hi Clever

Thanks, that looks close, would prefer plain color but it looks good. What’s the trick?

If you want light bubbles are the settings : Choose trafic light gauge in Display option,

Then adjust the gauge settings to your case (Cfr screenhshots).

Anyway, let's always challenge your end users about vizualisatio. I'm not fond of gauge and traffic lights, does Tableau has gauge or lights ? No. 😉

if you nee 3 colors, create three segments. Use single light mode for the indicator.

Hi Michael

Must be something strange with my straight table. If I just create a fresh example it works as expected (only that “Apply” in the properties clears the gauges out for some reason and they only show again once the properties dialog is closed)

Thanks for your help
