set default font

I have set the default font in Settings--> Document Properties --> Font.

I can use the "Apply to Objects" button to apply this to my currently created objects.

However, when I create a new object the font and size are not what is set in the document properties.  How can I set the font and size for all future objects that I create to default in a set way?

Where is that checkbox?  This is what I see, but nothing says "set as default" and when I create something new, it does not have this font and size.

This would work.  My problem ended up being that I had a layout theme that was overriding the document defaults, so I needed to address that, but without that this should work.
