upgrade 11 to 11.2 SR(3 or 4)

Hi Everyone

I have few questions regarding upgrade.

  1. Do we uninstall previous version or does it get uninstalled during the installation of new version.
  2. Do uninstall removes documents, settings, task, etc.
  3. Do all qv apps need to be refreshed in terms of opening and re-saving them onto new version.
  4. We have SAP connector & Sales force connector. Do they need to be updated or would they work fine.

Hi,

1. There's no need to uninstall previous version before installing 11.2. Unless you have troubles with you're current installation you can run 11.2 installer without uninstalling 11, so QlikView will perform an upgrade within the same 11 version.

2. It is recommended that you make a backup of what you have inside this folder: C:\ProgramData\QlikTech This folder includes information about your tasks, your qvws mounted in webserver (unless you changed this path), PGO files that contain data about your CALs, your License Enabler File and some documentation files.

3. After installing, just check if every application is running as expected

4. Talking about connectors, it is recommended that you have the newest release. (In case of sap the last version is 5.8 R2, for Salesforce is 11 SR1)

Also It is recommended to have the latest release possible of QlikView. The latest release of QlikView is 11 SR 5. Also take into account that there are special installers for Windows 2012 (talking about QlikView Server) and for Windows 8 (in case you need to install QlikView Desktop). Finally remember that is highly recommended to have the same version for QlikView Server and for QlikView Desktop or Internet Explorer-Plugin,

regards

Thanks Jaimie

for detailed answer. i have heard issue (performance wise) with 11.2 SR3 and beyond and we don't want to go with anything new, policy is to go to release that is out at least for 6 months.

regarding uninstall, doesn't the new installer at some point (when  you clicking next next) ask you to uninstall older version, do you keep the tick mark check or do u take it off.

Hi,

I think the installer will ask you to make just an upgrade because is the same version 11. In case that it ask you to uninstall previous version, just follow the wizard. Remember to backup everything that is inside program data folder and any qvw / qvd that you need for your applications,
