what is the use of Interval Match function ?

please can anybody elobrate the functionlaity of intervalMatch function with real time scenario ?

It is very usefull for grouping values into classes. look for example in the Movie Database that can be downloaded from the QV website. A movie with a duration of 93 minutes is linked with the INTERVAL MATCH function to the group of movies with a duration of "1.5-2 hrs".
