I use it primary for the data lineage.

It shows the lineage between files/tables, both sources and targets.

Ie.

File1.qvw creates file2.qvd

file2.qvd is read by file3.qvw which creates file file4.qvd

file5.qvw reads FROM DBOCUSTOMERS and creates file file6.qvd
