Any way to define symbols to be used on a scatter chart?

Unless I'm missing something it seems you have to use the symbols that Qlikview gives you

I'd like to pre-define the symbols used and have persistence when the user drills into a given value (at the moment the symbols change when the user drills down).

I am not sure if I understood you exact requirement,

via nested if conditions you can easily achieve to change the symbols.

If you are talking about icons(images) symbols , then you can predefine those icons with help of info load, to load your images so that you can tackle with your predefined symbols.

Thanks for your reply. I'm talking about the symbols displayed on a scatter chart - circle, square, plus, triangle etc. I'd like to define certain of these symbols for certain data sets and have these persist. For example I have a scatter where a circle is assigned to one type of customer and a square to another - but when you drill into either data set the symbol changes to a '+' . I'd prefer to assign a dot to one type of frequent customer and have that dot persist even when the user drills into that one customer type.
