Default Settings for Google Maps Extension

There has been some discussion on the use of Google Maps, and I have had some success in building heat maps in this way.

I would like to know how to change the default settings which are used by the extension to work out the initial size of the map. Even if I zoom in on the map, when I make a new data selection, the default settings revert the map to its default display size.

In addition, it would be nice to changing these defaults, it would be ven nicer for the zoom level to remain even after a data selection

Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution?
