Document Chaining- issue in passing the selections to the second document

Hello Everyone,

I have two documents. Both documents have multiple Sheets.I Created a data island for the sheet names.

Have a text box in both the documents to go back and forth between the documents  with the following actions  ' select in field ' Sheet ID and 'open qlikview document'.

Looks like the select in field values are not getting passed between documents because whatever i picked in the select in field in each of the document before the open qlikview document is what is getting set and is not changing based on the text action

Any help in fixing this?

Hi,

I see two issues that prevent this action to work:

1. In the Select action, the value doesn't need to be enclosed in single quotes. For this reason, the selection is not happening

2. The Details dashboard needs to be closed prior to the action being performed. I noticed that if both documents are opened, no new selection is being transferred.

With the corrected Select action, and with the Details dashboard being closed, I managed to pass a selection from one document to the other.

cheers,

Please provide the sample qvw file to see where it is going wrong?

I'd suggest verifying that the "OnOpen" trigger is actually performed upon opening the second document. Most of the time, when a certain event is caused by an Action, the triggers associated with that event are not fired, to prevent chain reactions.

So, it might be possible that the selection is passed, but the OnOpen trigger is not performing the desired actions.

Hi Satish/Oleg,

Please find attached the sample two apps.

I have two apps- Test -Overview and Test - Details.

When i click on the 'Test details - Customer sales' text box in Test overview document I want customer sales field to be selected in Test details document . but looks like it is not working. The selections are happening in the same document but not transferred to the second document. I am trying is to pass the sheetID the second document should open.

Please let me know what i am doing wrong.

Adding a Close document action before the open qlikview document did the trick

Hi Yogalakshmi,

does that work on access point too?

I have added the following actions on a button:-

1.close this document

2. open a qlikview document

this works fine on the qlikview desktop but not on access point. the button just closes the first document.
