Git with Qlikview

Hi all,

I finally decided to start my own blog on how we can integrate Git with Qlikview, Step by Step.

I will be updating the blog soon with my personal details. Feel free to make comments and share your thoughts.

Thanks,

Hi Albert, I'm not sure about the comments/notes and I don't have access to Git at the moment. Perhaps someone else can help you.

Regarding the .qvw, yes. I'd defenitly back it up. You don't have to use Git if you don't want to. any backup storage would do. If yuo use Git, make sure you reduce the file by deleting all data.

This may be a separate issue, but my concerns with deleting all data is that in the past, we have noticed settings getting wiped from the file when doing so. For example, the setting "Always one selected" will be unselected when we reduce the data too much.

In either case, I am going to experiment with Git and try to find the best solution.

We are hopefully in process switching to TFS. Then we will be using the integration in QlikView. Our tests have shown it works very well.

When working with QlikView, I would recommend TFS Before GIT any day.

Always one selected cannot be used if you recreate your qvw files from prj, since you wipe all data.

All variables has to be defined in the script.

Before 11.2 SR5 triggers were also lost.

Ah, well that could be a deal breaker for us... is there a way to setup that chart object setting in the script?

What else gets deprecated when recreating from prj?

A workaround is to not recreate the qvw files from prj. Then you can use always one selected.

We haven't found any other things that gets deprecated.

Hi JV,

Hope you are doing fine. The link provided asks for a wordpress account. I dont have one, is it mandatory to have a wordpress account to read through the content. Can it be made available any other way?

Awaiting your feedback.

Cheers

KD

Can you please give me access to view your blog. I'm new to the BI team and trying to have a process to check-in and check out the code using the git repository. Please any help will be appreciated.

Please can you give me access to view your blog. I tried multiple times but it's a private site and requires your approval to view the blog.
