Installation problem on Windows 7 (64bit, intel i7, brand new machine)

After the "Welcome to the QlikView Installtion Wizard" form,
raises Fatal Error: "Installation ended prematurely because of an error."

The same error, persist in all desktop versions from 8.00 to 9 (SR2)
(with or without firewall, antivirus)
Even with Windows compatibility mode: Windows XP (sp2)

I've already installed the vbscript.dll with regsvr32.exe:
"DllRegisterServer in c:\Windows\System\vbscript.dll succeded."

The only thing that I can suggest is to try to disabled the UACs (remembered that after having done you always to restart the computer) if this doesn't even work test to enter as administrator (I have seen that difference, depends from as you have shaped the authorizations of the user with which bushels making the installation).

Other, to say the truth, doesn't come me to mind.

I hope to be you useful.

Thank you for your feedback, Marco. We ended up re-formatting the hard drive instead, and had no problems afterwards.

Okay, I managed to get it to work finally. I had to manually edit a registry key. Remember before you do this to create a restore point just in case something doesn't go right.

I discovered a previous installation of McAfee modified this key as a means to intercept script calls that might be trying to execute vbscript.dll. So, what I did was searched the registry for the key mentioned above, {B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8} and found the entry referring to the old McAfee program files path.

I modified that entry to read "C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll" instead. After doing that I registered the dll again just to be sure.

While referring to a different error, this article walks through this and shows how to gain ownership of the keys, etc, so you can make the modifications.
