We have just set up QSV and have personal edition running on laptops to develop and design.
Can i move aps created on the personal edition to the QSV and do I acutally need to licence the personal edition so it becomes the full blown desktop version?
By QSV you mean to say Qlikview Server .. right ? If yes then you can post your application developed in Personal Edition to the server.
There is not limitation in personal edition in terms of development. But you will not be able open an appliation in personal edition which is developed by others.
If you have a qlikview server and named cal licenses, you can always lease a licenses and make you personal edition a licneses one.
First: do you have a QlikView Server?
Second, as Deepak mentions, the limitation in Personal Edition is that you can develop and open as many documents as you want as long as they have been developed in the same session of the same computer. If you for example, download an app from a discussion in the QlikCommunity, you use one of the four recovery attempts. Once the four attempts have been exhausted, you will not be able to open QlikView document until you license it.
Check with your nearest QlikView partner or sales rep here and get in contact with him to see the most suitable license for you.
Hope that helps.
In the developer go to file --> open in server
give the path as
qvp://ipaddress of the Qlikview server and press connect.
you will find the list of files below. Click on the application and press open.
Your licenses will be leased..!!
If it is still showing personal addition.. go to the management console and check if allow leasing licenses is enabled and also check if you have name cal licenses..
I have attach a snap short of the management console.
Let me know if you still have any query.
So lets say i want to now open and edit a doc that has been developed on another pc i can move that doc onto the server and then open it as you have described and start editing?
Yes, Since you have a licenses version , you can open any application from any location , even if you copy others application into your system you will be able to open that application.
