QVD files occasionally partially-loading!

Just like with many of my implementations, I have 2 applications at a client's site. I have one application that I call the "QVD Generator" responsible for connecting with the various data sources and producing a set of QVD files, and another the "UI" application which loads these QVDs.

These 2 applications are run overnight through the scheduler and we have ensured that the UI load happens well after the QVD generator completes it's task. Occasionally (about once a week) the users report that the QVDs were only partially loaded during the overnight process and that a manual reload always resolves this issue. The last time this happened, the UI application started loading half an hour after the QVD generator finished creating the QVDs so it's not a question of the UI application starting its load whilst the generator was half-way through its workings.

I am at a complete loss and the client is understandably not happy - can anyone suggest anything or where to look in the logs perhaps for a clue as to what is happening?

Thanks in advance

Alexis

Any other jobs were running at the time? if so make it dependent on one and then the other.

Logs are in different locations depending on what server you have.
mine is under C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\DistributionService\1\Log.

You can find out the logs of the day and see what happened

Thanx Alex - I'll have a look at the logs as you suggest.

When you refer to partial loading, do you mean the native QlikView Partial Reload functionality which is happening occasionally as opposed to a normal reload?

Hi Martin,

I mean that data is missing, sometimes a little sometimes a lot - it's variable.

This seem to be a data connector/data base issue rather than QlikView's fault. Maybe while you're reloading the QVD file the underlying database is getting updated at the same time e.g.. Don't you think?

I'm facing the same problem

I have this QVW this reads the data from QVDs and gerates anthoer QVDS , sometimes the QVDs that this QVW generates a lot of data in it is missing but it exists in the initial QVDs
