Qlikview performance

hi everyone!

I need your help, Because I'm facing a big problem of performance in my qlikview app.

Indeed, everyday I'm adding 600000 lines more in my QVD
and my report is slower day after day.

I have 5 tabs and each contains a lot of graphics and calculations.
I tried to apply  solutions of optimization found in the internet, but it's always slower.

On the webserver, I have "lost connection to server" each times, and now users can no longer access the data in the report.
i have changed the timeout parameters but i don't if it is better.

I need a big help on it plz !!!

Thanks

600k lines every day, for a month, will add up to 18 million lines. In itself is nothing to be worried about. 100 times that would be a different thing.

However, it will depend on a plethora of factors such as, but not limited to:

  • How long your fields are (either long strings or large decimals)
  • How many distinct values you have in each field
  • How complex your model is and how many unwanted synthetic keys does it have
  • How complex the calculations are on the charts and which charts are you using
  • How much macros, actions and conditions you have
  • How the variables are expanded, how many nested variable levels you have
  • How much RAM and CPU the server has and how fast those are
  • How many users are working at the same time i.e.: concurrently with the application

I would recommend you enabling telemetry for the QIX engine (https://support.qlik.com/articles/000062587) to see which objects are heavier and use QlikView apps like the Document Analyzer (https://qlikviewcookbook.com/tools/) and the QlikView Governance Dashboard (in the Downloads portal) to see how you can improve your data model first, then your front end and eventually, scale your server up or out.

EDIT: Of course, the Qlik Community group for Scalability and Performance (https://community.qlik.com/t5/Qlik-Scalability/gp-p/qlik-scalability) has also very good resources and posts to help you with that.

Jean-Luc, I am pretty sure I know what the issue is server-side as far as things taking too long, have a look at the following Support Article, believe that should address things such that you can get it to open, but performance stuff is not my area of expertise...

Socket Timeout Setting
