Resident vs QVD load

Hi,

I have one QVD where i need to use multiple time.

Performance wise, which option is good? Resident load or can i load QVD at multiple instances?

Thanks.

Hi,

any reason for using the QVD twice.

If you want to create any calculated fields, Yes we can use resident reload.

It's better to use Resident load instead of load QVD multiple times

Load QVD once and use resident for further calculations.

I think Loading always takes more time than calculation.

Still do you have any specific requirement ?

I have scenario where i need to use same QVD multiple time with different filters. This is the requirement, there is no calculations specifically. I do not wanna use SET ANALYSIS here.

Then load QVD once,

n then use resident.

Then you can use where clause or something for your filters.

I assume that you have multiple date fields to be linked to calendar tables. One option is to load multiple instances of the calendar linked to the respective dates. You can do this by loading from QVD multiple times, or by using a resident load. Either will work and a load from a QVD is not necessarily slower than a resident load.

Or else use a canonical date using a link table. See here for more:
