Section Access - Data Reduction

Hi Folks

I have a problem in how to implement a specific requirement using data reduction in section access.

The basic concept is that every trade has a Current Trader and an Historic Trader stamped against it, our trading Desk Heads (Managers) cover teams of traders and are therefore allowed to see the data belonging to their own teams (a team is an attribute of the trader), however, they are allowed to see only their own teams depending on the role that they are viewing. So, if they are looking at historic trader role, they should be able to see all of their team data where their team is stamped against the Historic Trader, but if they are looking at Current Trader, they should then be able to see data for their teams against the current trader.

EG:

Trade ID	Revenues	Curr Trader	Curr Trader Team	Hist Trader	Hist Trader Team
1000	125000.00	Joe	A	Peter	B
1001	32000.00	Dave	B	Dave	B
1002	45000.00	Peter	B	Martin	C
1003	54000.00	Stuart	C	Sharon	D
1004	78000.00	Julian	A	Terry	A
1005	12000.00	Matt	B	Derek	C
1006	32000.00	Joe	A	Joe	A
1007	65000.00	Harry	C	Fred	A
1008	98000.00	Julie	A	Ryan	B
1009	226000.00	Nigel	B	Nigel	B

Then, I have the following Managers who are responsible for these teams:

Manager Name	Team(s)
GEORGE	A
MAX	B
TIM	C
TONY	D

Given the above information, if GEORGE is logged into the dashboard and is viewing data using the Current Trader role, he should be able to see the following trades: 1000, 1004, 1006 & 1008.  However, for the same person in the same dashboard using the same section access data reduction, if he now selects the Historic Trader role, he will now be able to see trades: 1004, 1006 & 1007.

I am pretty sure that data reduction removes data and therefore the above would be impossible to implement using data reduction.

Does anybody have any thoughts as to how this could be securely implemented?

Hi Nigel,

There is no straightforward way to do what you would like to the best of my knowledge. I have come up with a workaround that may help. The caveat is a selector which has "Always one selected value" set so you always choose a role. Please use GEORGE as the Username and AAA as the password to access the attached qvw.
