While exporting to excel, how can I get the Selections (like header / footer) in the Excel along with the Data?

I have the On Biff Exports option checked under User preference, but still i dont see it in my excel. Can anyone help?

Nisha,
In the print dialogue, see tab Layout - there is "Print selection stamp", with options. And, a button "Save Settings" on bottom left.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply. But how do i get the print dialogue that you are refering to?

Sorry to interfere, but I thought this was about Excel export and not printing which of course are two totally different things. I wish that would be an option for exporting and not only for printing, and I think it can't be achieved by setting print options, but perhaps I'm missing something. Anyway, I keep conjuring my users to provide a selection status when presenting a printout. The mess is that they don't print directly from QlikView but are exporting to Excel and THEN printing from Excel. Therefore I don't accept any support calls based on excel printouts anymore if not otherwise a selection status can be provided.

I was not seeing the print dialog as there was no printer configured in the server..

Joachim, if the users print from the reports directly from Qlikview will it give them the selection crietria as well?

Nisha,

AFAIK if printing is allowed the user always gets the usual print dialog where he theoretically COULD - as Michael says - choose the "print selection stamp" option on the layout tab and where he could even save these settings. But I'm afraid you cannot easily enforce this configuration (of course you could when messing in the registry of the user I suppose, but that's a different theme).

All in all it would be reasonable to
- prohibit exports
- allow printing AND
- enforcing printing of selection stamp.

The first two items are implemented; the third one is still a pious hope - and surely an item for the feature request.

Joachim

Sorry, I was typing fater than thinking... Tongue Tied
You both are right. The priblem is that the settings "on biff..." is in the user preferences, hence it is not a property of the QV document - it is an attribute of user environment.
On server - I don't remember and can't check right now. Try to press CTRL+ALT+D on the server-based application and see if it brings some sort of user preferences and if yes - what is there.

When you say IE Plugin what are you refering to? Is in inside the application ? I still get only the User preference

Hi Nisha,

have a look at http://www.qlikblog.at/583/qliktip-1-transferring-current-selections-excelexport-translated/ where I have explained the settings for transferring the current selections to excel (in Windows Client and IE-Plugin) in detail.

Best regards
