Strange Barchart layout when limit the second dimension

Hi all,

I found that when my barchart has 2 dimensions, the layout shows wrong and I don't know why.

Strange Barchart layout when limit the second dimension.PNG

You can see my example data and the barchart, there are some strange space in the barchart.

And I want to get the top 3 per month, I can done the function, but the layout is strange.

Do you know why and any method to solve that?

Thanks.

Hi Andrew,

Yes, for real data, because company join to us one by one,and I can't make every company has data in every month...

So i met this problem..

do you think it's no way to solve that? because I'm going to give up...it takes me too much time.

Suppress values will not work, because month is your primary dimension and categories are associated with each month which is secondary dimension. So for example if for particular month if you have values for 5 Companies and for another month only two Companies, so missing company cannot be suppressed because it's there for first month.

To your problem I think you need to create a separate transformed table

so do you mean i need to do 3 tables to show different month data?

but the problem is that for real data I don't know how many month we have or customer choose...

Another solution could be like, create composite dimension of Month & Company. Use color with Fieldindex function to give color to each company. And use straight table as customized legend.
