Stress testing QV Web Application

Hello Qlikview Community,

I am concerned with concurrent users for a web hosted qlikview dashboard. Does anyone know of a good way to run a stress test for our qlikview dashboard? Is there a particular tool out there that works well, or is made specifically for, Qlikview?

Thanks all!

Alex

Hi Alex,

I was shown Apache JMeter in a session on QlikView performance run by Rob Wunderlich at a training event the other week.  This looks like a very comprehensive way to stress test your QlikView applications.

You can download JMeter from here: http://jmeter.apache.org/

It's a standard HTML tool - but it works very well with the Ajax version of QlikView.

Hope that helps,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion; this will definitely be good for testing the web server. Any ideas for testing from the front-end? We were hoping to stress test individual applications since we share a production server with other applications.

Thanks!

Do you mean stress testing in QlikView Desktop?  I'm not aware of anything that will allow you to run through a script on a desktop app in the same way that JMeter does on a web server.

If you are worried about hurting production server performance you could look at getting a migration server licence for a short while and test against that.  If you were to run this on a machine with more modest hardware than production then it would test the applications under a worse performance scenario.

Hello,

You will have an example of the project in jmeter for qlik stress tests or a reference link

Thank you

The package available here:

QV Scalability Tools (QV10,QV11,QV12)

provides a tool and documentation for creating, running and analyzing QV load tests.

In addition to this you can use HP Load runner which is very simple and gives expected results as you required.

Thanks
