conditional show issue

This is an interesting one for 9.0!

I have a conditional show statement in one of the list box layouts (v_dropdown='National'), based on an input box selections(national, area, region)

If I select region, the list box is hidden(as expected), but if go back to national, it never comes back. The interesting thing is that the show mode for the same list box is NORMAL when i check object properties. I checked the layers, and every possible thing that i could. I also tested the variable value in a text box and there was no issue with that either

How can an object not appear in Front end when the SHOW MODE is NORMAL for that object? Also, this problem is NOT encountered for other objects like straight tables with the SAME LAYOUT CONDITION[:@]

Any clue?

Thanks,

Siddharth

I am using 9.0 SR3. I checked the same in 8.5 and didnot notice the issue. Attached is the same qvw. Check the sheet properties for List Box Forest_Brand_Desc. It shows as normal, but doesnot get displayed for any of the input box selections.

Here are answers to your questions:

what version of qv9 you have?

Ans 9.0 SR3

what are the constraints and method of selecting the values in the input box?

Ans: Listed values in a drop down without constraints

does it happen also if you change the variable value from the variable overview dialog?

Ans Yes

does it happen on any list box? or just this specific one?

Ans Yes

I feel, its a 9.0 SR3 issue(bug). Please check if you get a chance.

Thanks,

Siddharth

I suspect you're right about it being a 9.0 SR3 bug. It's working correctly for me in 9.0 SR5.

I have also experienced this problem.

I found that if you change the layer to custom 99, the bx will re-appear.

We have just moved to SR5 and as yet I haven't seen this happen - might be worthwile upgrading?

Paul,

I changed the custom layer to 99, but the issue still exists.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, it looks like a bug. I have come across several instances of this. As suggested above, upgrading to a later SR should solve the problem.

I've just upgraded to SR5 and the problem is fixed. Definitely a bug.

Wow! I think I spoke too soon!

Now it appears that the Error Message I specified doesn't work. I have the following Calculation Condition.

=

GETSELECTEDCOUNT([Check-in Year])=1

The error displayed is: "Too Few Dimensions" which doesn't appear in the list of error messages to override. Even when I change the default error message it makes no difference.

Looks like another bug!
