its almost 4 years in Qv, but still feeling like i have not learnt much in QV..!!!

Hi All,

working in Qlikview projects from the last 4 years, in different domains. but feeling like there are many things to learn in Qv.

the reason being is not working in dev projects. all these years most the projects given to me are either enhacements/support/maintanance or very small projects where we dont have scope of learning new things or facing diff issues.

off cource the work used to be very less Smiley Wink, but other side there is no much improvement in the learning.

just want to seek an advise or suggestion from others here, how to keep on learn/explore/deep dive into the tool.

as we know in any organization most of the times we dont have a choice to pick the projects based on our wish. so here my plan is how to learn as much as a Developer who is working in a challenging project...which i feel is almost not possible...!!??

one way is looking into the community and trying to solve the issues may help...

Any other methods/ suggestions/advices..??

Thanks Much in advance....

I'll start by echoing what you have said; the deep learning comes from being challenged and tackling those challenges.  I understand that your day to day job may not currently present you with enough challenges to advance your knowledge. Here are some suggestions to create your own challenges:

1. Answer questions on the Qlik Community, as you have already mentioned.  These are real world problems that frequently will be out of your comfort zone.

2. Offer your analytic services as a volunteer to non-profits in your community that you care about.  You can help them in using QV or other analytics solutions.  They will likely appreciate your efforts and be patient with the fact that you may be "working above your pay grade" with a broader responsibility than you are used to and learning as you go.  If you advance the program enough, you may be able to get assistance or licenses from Qlik's CSR program

3. Take these new found skills and knowledge and seek to identify opportunities in your own organization to champion innovative ideas and ask to have a part in the implementation.  Be a creator.  I'm not totally naive, I realize sometimes organization culture and politics will hold back the best of ideas.  Be humble and share credit with others, especially those who sponsor you.

4. Seek education and networking opportunities such as the Meetups.  If there is not a Qlik Meetup in your area, start one.  Attend classes when you can such as the Masters Summit for Qlik (plug) or use the content from qcc.qlik.com.

5. Become  a blogger.  When you publish a post to the world, you are highly motivated to research and test your topic well.

Good luck!

The best way to boost your knowledge is to try getting the QV certificates. You will have to read a lot, experiment with the formulas and make demo apps:

Reading helps a lot:

QV community is full of great articles and blogpost:

Subscribe for blogs:

Just do not loose motivation 🙂

Hi Vishal,

I would suggest three things;

1. goto https://qcc.qlik.com/ , here you'll get to learn everything in Qlik.

2. community covers most of the real time issues/problems and can gain knowledge on new aspects.

3. there are a lot of demos available https://qcc.qlik.com/ here. You can download them and try to recreate them with your own developing skills.
