Firewall Port information for LSF client integration with Qlikview

Hi,

Which FW port should be open to communicate to LsF client from Qlikview Server.  LsF Client is triggering the Bat files placed at Qlikview server.

Any help/information would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Sush678 ,

Have a look at the Qlik Knowledgebase article Firewall TCP and UDP Ports Used by QlikView and the QlikView Help entry Ports for details on all of the ports QlikView utilizes. I'm not sure of the ports on the LSF side, but this IBM article Purpose of the Different LSF Ports may be helpful.

@Sush678,

From the Qlik documentation I previously provided, the QlikView Management Service (QMS) uses port 4780 and the QlikView Distribution Service (QDS) uses port 4720. These are the two services most heavily used with integration for externally executed reload/distribution tasks.

Hi @Chip_Matejowsky ,

Thank for your response.  PORT that is required from LSF has been identified but any idea on what port should taken care from Qlikview end to accept the inbound traffic from LSF client. Currently facing issue with the lSF and Qlikview connectivity.  Lsf not able to trigger jobs at Qlikview end.

Thanks once again.

To integrate LSF (Load Sharing Facility) client with QlikView, you typically need to ensure that the necessary firewall ports are open to allow communication between the LSF client and QlikView server. The specific ports required may vary depending on your setup and configuration, but here are the commonly used ports for this integration:

  1. Port 4747: This is the default port used by QlikView server for communication with QlikView clients. It is used for the QlikView Management Service (QMS) API and for the QlikView web server. Ensure that this port is open to allow the LSF client to communicate with the QlikView server.

  2. Port 1233: This port is used by QlikView Distribution Service (QDS) to communicate with QlikView clients. It is responsible for distributing tasks and managing the load balancing of tasks across the QlikView servers. Ensure that this port is open to enable communication between the LSF client and QDS.

  3. Port 443: If you are using HTTPS (secure HTTP) for communication between the LSF client and QlikView server, you need to ensure that port 443 is open. This port is commonly used for secure web traffic.

It's important to note that these are general recommendations, and your specific setup may require additional ports or different configurations. It is recommended to consult the documentation or contact the support team of the software you are using (LSF and QlikView) to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding firewall port requirements for their integration. I am appreciative of your response. PORT that is required from LSF has been discovered, but any ideas on what port should be taken care of on the Qlikview end to accept the inbound traffic from the LSF client would be very appreciated. At the moment, there is a problem with the connecting between lSF and Qlikview. Lsf not able to activate jobs at Qlikview end.

Hi @adamsmith_1626 ,

Your post from today looks to be a copy/paste of @Sush678 previous post, which I answered with the following:

It's possible that in order to integrate the LSF (Load Sharing Facility) client with QlikView, you'll have to open certain firewall ports in order to enable communication between the two systems. LSF is a tool offered by IBM that is utilised for task scheduling, while QlikView is a platform that offers business insight. Establishing connections between the LSF client and the QlikView server is the standard starting point for the integration process.

It's possible that the specific ports required for the integration will change depending on the environment and configuration you're using. It is very necessary to consult the documentation of both LSF and QlikView in order to locate the specific ports that are required for communication.

The following is a list of general guidelines:

LSF Client: If the LSF client needs to connect to the QlikView server, you may need to open outgoing ports on the computer where the LSF client is installed. This is because the QlikView server only accepts connections from localhost. The LSF client and the QlikView server will be able to communicate with one another thanks to these ports.

If the QlikView server needs to communicate with the LSF client, you may need to open incoming ports on the QlikView server to allow incoming connections from the LSF client. This is because the LSF client will be the one initiating the connection.

Port Range: The communication between LSF and QlikView may use a variety of ports for different tasks. These ports can be found in the port range. To find out the specific port range, you need consult the paperwork that comes with both items.

When opening ports in a firewall, you should always give thought to the possible security risks. In order to avoid unauthorised access, you should only open the essential ports and restrict access to reliable sources.

VPN or Private Network: If the LSF client and the QlikView server are both on the same private network or are connected to each other through a VPN, then it's possible that you won't need to open any specific firewall ports.

It is highly recommended that you consult the official documentation for both LSF and QlikView in order to obtain the most precise information possible regarding the necessary firewall ports for integrating the two products. The documentation will provide extensive information regarding the configuration of the integration, including any relevant network and firewall considerations. In addition, you may also seek particular counsel based on the infrastructure of your organisation by consulting with the network or system administrators at your company. spotify receiptify

LSF (Load Sharing Facility) is a technology from IBM that is used to handle work and resources. On the other hand, QlikView is a platform for business information. If you want to connect LSF and QlikView, you might need to make sure they can talk to each other well. As of my last information update in September 2021, however, there is no well-known or standard way for LSF and QlikView to work together.

If you are talking about a specific integration scenario or tool that connects LSF and QlikView, you should look at the documentation or help materials that the tool or vendor provides. In this case, the instructions should list the firewall port information that is needed.

If you're working on a custom integration between LSF and QlikView or any other system, the necessary ports might depend on the communication protocols and methods you're using. You'll need to think about things like data transfer, API calls, and how the systems work with each other.

Here are some steps to take in general:

1. literature: Look over the integration tool's literature or configuration guides. They should give information about the ports and network settings that are needed.

2. Help for vendors: If you're using a tool from a third party to help with the connection, contact the vendor's support team for help. They should be able to tell you what you need to know about the router port.

3. Analysis of networks: If you can't find information about specific ports in the documentation, you can look at the network flow between the systems as you do things related to integration. This can help you figure out which ports are being used.

4. Configuring the firewall: Once you know the port, you'll need to set up your firewalls to let traffic between the computers go through those ports. Depending on your network security rules, this could mean opening ports that come in or go out.

5. Concerns about security: Even though you need to open ports to communicate, make sure to follow best practises for security. Only open the ports that are necessary for the connection and limit the amount of information that can get out.

6. Test and keep an eye on: After setting up the firewall ports, test the integration well to make sure that data moves correctly between LSF and QlikView. Watch the traffic to find any strange things.

Keep in mind that the port requirements will depend a lot on the details of the integration and the software/tools you use. It's always best to look at the official documentation and ask the vendors or experts for help if you want accurate information that fits your case.cfa home
