qlikview desktop can't communicate with server

Dear Community,

We have a very strange problem. We have several servers, where our collagues open qlikview documents with open in server method. These servers are identical to each other, we use them to reduce the load.In recent weeks, servers have been losing communication with the QlikView server one after another, with the following error message.

Once this issue arises, we can no longer get QlikView Desktop to work on the affected server in any way. Reinstallation does not help either. Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @blevy,

Typically that error is returned when either port 4747 isn't open and the QlikView Desktop clients can't communicate with the QlikView Server, or there is a mismatch in the security algorithm of QV Desktop vs QV Server

Qlik Support article Troubleshooting QlikView License Lease Issues provides resolutions for both of these issues, as well as other potential root causes.

This is a generic "Can't communicate with the server" message and it can result from just about anything. In your case, the first thing I'd check is if any of the QlikView services are offline when this happens. You might also want to check the logs (and enable more detailed logging) to further investigate when and why this is happening.

Probably not related, but it looks like your client isn't leasing a license from the server and doesn't have one manually entered (Personal Edition) - might want to have a look at that.
