SAP SQL Connector delays in receiving data back from SAP

We are experiencing some occasions in our QlikView environment where the SAP SQL Connector experiences delays in receiving data back from SAP.  We are running version 5.8 of the SAP Connector and version 11.2 of QlikView.  In some cases, the total delay exceeds our configured TimeOutFetch limit of 60 minutes.  I do not believe this is a Qlik issue, but our SAP BASIS admins say they do not see any issues occurring on the SAP side which would cause this, and our network and server admin teams have also been unable to provide clues to a root cause.

The SAP connector logs contain messages like the following (partial log):

2018-09-21 07:10:21 Progress Reply from FetchStream received

2018-09-21 07:10:21 Progress 5 s delay.  Waiting to receive data (Total Delay: 3595 s)

2018-09-21 07:10:21 Progress Calling FetchStream

2018-09-21 07:10:26 Progress Reply from FetchStream received

2018-09-21 07:10:26 Progress 5 s delay.  Waiting to receive data (Total Delay: 3600 s)

2018-09-21 07:10:26 Progress Calling FetchStream

2018-09-21 07:10:31 Progress Reply from FetchStream received

2018-09-21 07:10:31 Error Timeout: exceeded the 'TimeOutFetch' limit of 3600 s

2018-09-21 07:10:31 Progress Disconnected

Does anyone out there have experience with this type of issue?  Any ideas on root causes or tips for troubleshooting?

Thank you!

Hi Mary,

In release 6.1.2 there was a significant performance improvement for reload times for  the the SQL connector. However we always recommend to use the latest release. Release 7.0.1 is planned to be available during the first half of October.

Qlik Connector for SAP Release Notes - Summary 5.6-7.0

Reload times are also dependent of the performance of the specific SAP system and of how complex the SQL statement is.

Best regards,

Hakan
