hi,

we don't use the latest qv connector but one of its' predecessors. Basically the Connector will allow you to extract data from SalesForce in the same way the SAP connector does. They seem to be like customised odbc links.

It creates the link to sfdc. You can then select tables fields with sql like queries as the application data schema is fairly classic ER that you find in most applications except in sfdc it's all Opportunities/Events/Leads and so on. The specifity of sfdc is its in the cloud so physically you don't know where it is or what it is stored on but this is becoming the norm. i mean do we know - or care - where qv community is housed or on what?

Once you've pulled the data into qv you do what you want with it - but I'd always advise you to start building similar reports to those that exist in sfdc so that you can quality check the data.

Afterwards qv will knock spots off the reporting facility that is inside SalesForce for the same reasons it probably does that where SAP is concerned.

Here's the ref manual for the latest release, v11 of the Sales Force Connector.

Not a very long manual but there's some info for you in there:

Hi

An updated datasheet is posted here

http://www.qlik.com/us/explore/solutions/data-source/salesforce

also a QlikStart template will be available on this site by the end of this week.  In terms of the new features in the latest version of the connector:

- Utilises the Salesforce API not ODBC to connect to salesforce.com

- Upto and including API 21 supported

- Now with access to archived data

- Additional datatypes supported

Kind Regards

Ian
