Alternate State confusion

How does one set alternate states? I would like state1 to equal eastern division ad state2 to equal westerndivision.

We create alternates status through Document Properties->General->Alternate state. Once created it starts showing state field in all QV objects for assignment of objects to different states. Have a look at sample app.

What is your desired output?

The state information you can set in every chart under General->Alternate state and choose the desired state...

Desired output is to display one part of an organizational hierarchy/treeview. The user should see only that state.
