Using a part of a search result further on

Hallo,

I hope that I'm in the right forum with my question:

Is it possible to transfer a part of the search result (XXXXX) into another search box?

In Excel, for example, I would use the Formel „=left(column_line/;5)“. Is there any possibility in Qlik View?

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

I have two independent search boxes.

I start with the search in search box 1 and get in the multibox a result (rnr_afo: XXXXX_YY).

Now I need the XXXXX result (in mulitbox 1)  for another searching in searchbox 2.

I must search with XXXXXX in another column.

Try typing like:  =Left(rnr_afo,5)  in your second search box.

Hello Cathleen,

Trust that you are doing well!

To tackle such situation you can make use of addition field in script. For example, if you have search box 1 using ColumnLine1 field then create another field in script as LEFT(ColumnLine1,5) As NewColumnLine1 and use it in search box 2.

I hope this will be of help.

Thats possible.

But the formula must reference the search result in the multibox, not the column.

That's the problem.

Hello Rahul,

I know it is a little bit confuse.

I need no new column. What I want is, that the left part of the search result (written in the multibox) will be automaticly transfer in the next search box for further searching.

Regards!

You can't refer a search result that way. However, you perhaps can somewhat try putting your first search criteria (instead of the field itself) within the second one like:

=Left( <First Search String/Expression>,5)
