Editing a report with Document CALs

Hello QlikCommunity!

I'm so glad I can finally write in here. So far I've been lurking your precious questions and answers but now I feel like it's about time for me to ask something.

I've been developing reports in Qlikview since April. I'm so proud of my work and I'm uploading my creations to the Server.

As soon as I uploaded the first report I had to make a few fixes.

The document has Document CALs.

Is there a way to access and edit the document remotely without logging on the server and keep it busy while working?

Better, is logging to the server and edit the report the only way?

Can't I edit the document on my local PC and then overwrite the previous report without losing the CALs?

Thank you everyone.

Re: Editing a report with Document CALs

Document CALs are managed by the server and are assigned to documents by the server. So they are not actually on the document. It is fine to overwrite the file, the CALs will not be affected. You can even create a new document and replace it and the CALs will still be there.

Editing the document on your local PC and overwrite the one on the server is completely fine.

Re: Editing a report with Document CALs

Hi,

you can install QlikView Desktop in the machine where QV Server is installed. You can use Personal edition in this server to create and edit applications (qvws). However is important to note that you won't be able to edit documents created in other computers,

Other than this, you'll need a Named Cal in order to open any qvw in QV Desktop and edit them,

Re: Editing a report with Document CALs

So basically what matters is the name of the document..

I've read that a document with CALs should not be renamed or removed before removing the CALs.

Thanks Kwok!
