Help with ie plugin error

Hi everyone,

I have a client that is having problems with some users (on remote sites) are getting error messages when trying to open a document from the access point.

This is the error.

Capture.JPG

I am trying to enable the log file from the IEPlugin.

It is usually done this way...

- Open a (any) QlikView document via the plugin.

- On the plugin toolbar, select Menu > About QlikView

- Right click the QlikView icon - bottom left.

- Scroll down to select 'ExtendedErrorOutput' and change the value to 1.

- Select 'Set'

- Close the prompt and close the doc.

This generates a log file in the users documents folder.

I am unable to do this as they can't get into any documents but was wondering if there was a way to enable it through the registry instead?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Re: Help with ie plugin error

The error you are showing can be cause by port 4747 is blocked between the clients machine and the server hosting QVS. You need to check the firewall on both sides to see if 4747 is open. You can do this with Telnet (telnet  test.com 4747) and if you get a blinking curser then the port is open. The other thing is that the linkmachine name needs to be set in the server settings.

Re: Help with ie plugin error

Adding some information about the name/location of the log file from QT Support:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the questions concerning the plugin Open an application in the plugin client. Go to Menu - About QlikViewRight click the Q in the left cornerFind "ExtendedErrorLoggingMode"Set the value to 1Press Set and CloseThe logfile will be found in C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\My Documents (WinXP) OR C:\Users\USERSNAME\Documents and is called QlikViewError.Log.

Re: Help with ie plugin error

If the Qlikview Report does not open at all, then you can enable the Log Mode by adding the below entries (highlighted in yellow) in the settings.ini file located at "C:\Users\<..............>\AppData\Roaming\QlikTech\QlikView".

ExtendedErrorOutput=1
ExtendedErrorLoggingMode=1

Re: Help with ie plugin error

Hey everyone,

What if the port (4747) is open at the remote site?  What else can the issue be?

Thanks all.

Re: Re: Help with ie plugin error

It can be caused by the linkmachine name. Check out the last part of the attached.

Re: Help with ie plugin error

Thank you.  On the prod server, we install apps on the E drive, but i do see the dll file there.  Have no clue what changed for the remote site users.  Have the networking team on my site and their site looking into the issue.
