How to open Qlik View Server (which is in client domain) from my desktop (which is in company domain)

Hi All,

I need to open a document on the qlik view server which is hosted on my client domain, using Qlik view personal edition installed on my desktop which is in a different domain.

Could you please advise if this is possible, if yes, how i need to proceed.

I tried opening using OPEN IN SERVER, by providing the SERVER machine name and Alternate Identity option and user id metioned like "Domain\Userid" and Password. But the connection is failing with the below message:

"Failed to reach server: server name; Switching to HTTP tunneling; connections to server OK, Nogotiations timed out."

I am already connected to the tunnel client. Please let me know your comments.

Thanks

Vishnu.

How to open Qlik View Server (which is in client domain) from my desktop (which is in company domain)

Hi Satish,

i am trying to develop a report in Qlik View, but my machine is currently not on my client domain and it is the client who has acquired the licence. Hence i am unable to open Qlik view with licence(In server) from my desktop.

But I am able to open qlik view using an RDP(remote desktop) which is in the client domain(by using "open in server" option).

Can you please suggest how i can access the liscence from my current domain by specifying the server details.

Thanks

Vishnu.

How to open Qlik View Server (which is in client domain) from my desktop (which is in company domain)

Hello,

Some things to take into account:

- Check that ports 4747 and 80 are open in the source server and in your computer for both inbound and outbound

- If you "Open in Server" you will not be able to access the script or save among other things, which you're likely to need in order to develop it.

What I do is to install the Desktop version in the server (same version), then using RDP to connect to the server, and open the document locally in server, then work on it. Make sure the server allows license leasing and the user you are going to connect as have a CAL assigned.

Hope this helps.

How to open Qlik View Server (which is in client domain) from my desktop (which is in company domain)

HI Vishnu,

when u r connected Remote desktop connection, that time log on QvAdministrator.

means u r accessing client maching through rdp(log on Administrator or Qv Admin)

then make sure this Administrator or QvAdmin user have Cal license or assign 1cal license for this users.

then u can open the application and play with ur own.

How to open Qlik View Server (which is in client domain) from my desktop (which is in company domain)

@ Maguel: how to check and enable the ports in my local machine.

@Satish: Using RDP i am able to connect to the server and work (as i am using the user ID that has CAL licence ,as you have said), but when i try this from my desktop which is in a different Domain, i am unable to open qlik view, even though i have specified the same user ID and Password details using the Alternate Identity option.

My requirement is to open qlik view using my desktop but by sharing the CAL licence of the server hosted in a different Domain.

Thanks for the responses Smiley Happy

How to open Qlik View Server (which is in client domain) from my desktop (which is in company domain)

First: Check your OS Firewall software and hardware, if any, in both your network and client's network. You may need help from your system or network administrator

Second: Check that the domain\user you are using in the RDP connection has sufficient permissions to modify the document.

Regards.

@Miguel: I am planing to request the network team to check the firewall setings.

@Satish: i am trying to access the QV server in the client domain from my desktop and i am using an alternate identity option, ie domain\userid and a password. Where the domain is our client domain and the userid is of a user who has access to the client server (it is not my username). Its just similar to accessing an (RDP) machine from a desktop.
