How to unpin a QV Document from the memory without restarting QV Services

Hi All,

I was wondering if it is possible to unpin apps from the Server memory without restarting the Server or QlikView Services. I am using QV 11. Is there a setting in the QMC using which I can unpin documents from the memory?

Thanks,

Neeraj

Hi Neeraj,

There is currently no way to unload a specific QVW from memory.  You can set the document timeout for an individual document by going to QMC - Documents - User Documents - Server Tab - Performance - Document Time out

Keep in mind the time out takes affect when the last user made thier click.

Hi Neeraj,

you're looking for the "Document Timeout" option.

From QMC's Help: "Open documents take up valuable system resources (that is, memory space, RAM, is allocated) and should not be allowed to remain open when not in use. However, if a document is closed too quickly, the users may get longer delay times when accessing the document, because the server has to reopen it. This value controls for how long a document will be allowed to be unused before the QlikView Server (QVS) closes the document and reclaims the resources."

There are two options:

- one "global" for all documents in your server: QMC > System > Setup > QlikView Server > Documents > Server > Document Timeout

- one for each document: QMC > Documents > User Documents > Server > Performance > Sessions > Document Timeout

Re: How to unpin a QV Document from the memory without restarting QV Services

Hello,

i have a question to this topic:

i want to define the document timeout in documents-user documents - server - performance.

for example 3 min. does this mean, that the RAM will be bigger after 3 minutes when the document is no longer be used?

what are the differences between document timeout and maximum inactive session time or maximum number of concurrent session?

is document timeout and maximum inactive session time not the same?

i open a document, then i work with the document for example 2 minutes. then i dont close the application.

what does document timeout and maximum incative session time in this context mean?

thanks for your answer!

best regards,
