Licenses and Authentication through Active Directory

Hi Everyone,

We are working with a solution to different clients, every client group must have access to information but they must not see information to other group. By policies, every single user must have an access through with Active Directory.

My question related with licenses is, what is the best way if we must enable access to many users? Our partner is not clear and they offer us two types: by document, just access to 1 qvw, or by user, single user with access to multiples qvw.

Regards,

JFlorian

Yup, your Partner is correct.

  • Document CAL
    • Allows One AD User to access one qvw document
    • So if they want to access two, qvw documents they will need 2 Document CAL's

  • Name User CAL
    • Allows One AD User to access an unlimited number of qvw documents.
    • Money wise the break even point over Document CAL's is accessing 4 or more qvw documents.
    • It also provides access to do Development

Best Regards,     Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your answer and help... but, what happen if organization wants several users? 8.000 users? That is so expensive with Name User CAL, or I can enable a license by area/business unit?

Thanks in advance.
