Licenses assigned are deleted, the pgo files are generated again

Hi,

I am having a problem with my qv server installation.

Unexpectedly all the licenses assigned, named cals and document cals, were delete and now I have all licenses unassigned.

The .PGO files with the licenses information are created again  today.

The events log says:

The events log continues today with lot of message as the following:

Pgo Files:

pgo.png

Antivirus software in server have an exception to the entry folder C:\ProgramData\QlikTech to not analysis here so this software cant delete the pgo files.

I have QlikView Server 11.440.

I will continue with the analysis this issue, and now I start to see the windows application event log and I will open a case at the QlikView Support, but someone have any idea for this? What can be happened? Can I looking for some other log file that can help me?

Thank you very much!!

Regards.

Hi,

I was looking for the reason and the way to solve this issue, talking with QT Support and doing some test for that.

This issue can be occurs if any other application as a backup or antivirus tool deletes the pgo files where the licenses information is stored. This issue also can be occurs if you have the installation path of the server out of the local server, at the net, in a NAS or a SAN storage architecture, because maybe you can have a connectivity problem with the storage and this can perform the insync pgo files.

The pgo files should be ever the same timestamp.

As Nag and Peter says the default folders to store the pgo files are the followings:

o C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer (Backup files of pgo files. Is a copy of Documents)

o C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Documents (Files that are using by the console in real time)

So...in my environment I cant find the reason because these problems not occurs.

But to solve this issue, is recommendable to maintain a daily backup of pgo files to restore if is necessary, but is more recommendable maintain a documentation with the information of all licenses applied in the console (users in each documento with document cals, named cals for example) to delete the corrupts pgo files and reassign all the licenses again.

Thank you very much Peter and Nag!

I hope that it can be helpful for anyone.

Regards.

Hi Guzman

When the Qlikview Services are Running, the .pgo files are getting refreshed frequently within few seconds  every time time 24*7 till the moment your Qlikview services are running.

If you have lost all the License details do these following things:

1) Get a Backup copy of .Pgo files for the day when it was showing correct Cal Details.

Suppose you Cal details lost on Tuesday 25th and it was correct on Monday 24th. so, take a backup copy of Monday 24th.

2) copy that Backup files of .Pgo files at 2 places:

a) C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer

b) C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Documents

After doing this you will get your all previous Cals which were allocated to various users.

Hope that helps you.

Hi Nag thank you for your answer.

When I dont make any change about licenses, the modification date of .pgo files change anyway?

Your alternative to solve my problem is a good idea. I have two more questions: - Which is the difference of the pgo files in QlikViewServer and the files in Documents (Why this files are in the two folders)? - Have you any idea about the cause?

The pgo files in your Documents folder are the "Master set". The ones in the QlikViewServer folder are the working copies. Deleting the latter will cause them to be regenerated from the Master set.

BTW Error 3 in your log seems to point to something like "Access Denied". Maybe the QlikView service account has a problem accessing or rewriting those files? What is the server looking for in folder C:\P anyway?

Peter, thank you for your response.

The "P" folder dont exist in the root C:. I don't know why appears this folder or where it is configured.

The correct folder should be C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\Documents in my case, do you know where i can set this configuration?

Thank you.
