Moving documents between servers

Hi, I'm moving Qlikview from servers srv01 to server srv02 ( the new server is a windows server 2012). Srv02 will be the only one running.Srv02 already has the Lef information.

Now...documents from srv01 won't open on srv02.

How can I move Qlikview documents from one server to the other?

Thanks

Thank you all!

With Section Access  the user from srvr02 didn't have permissions to open the document. I had to open the documents on srvr01 a give access to srvr02\qvusr.

Best Regards,

Célia

Hi,

explain better what are you meaning with "documents from srv01 won't open on srv02".

In the Access Point? With QlikView Desktop via license lease? QlikView Server Release is the same between the two servers?

It's exactly the same software.

I can't open the files in QlikView Desktop with the license lease. The user has the same name, but the server doesn't...

Is there a way to "fix" this?

Thanks

if both the servers in intranet?

1.login to server02

2. and map ur server01 drive with server02

3. no need to open ur documents on srv01,

4. u just copy all ur docs from srv01 and past it on ur new server 02,hope tht works.

I can't access Srv01 from the Srv02 through the intranet. I must copy the files.

I have 2 Qlikview Servers, but I want to disconnect the first one, move from 2008 to 2012.

The second server is up and running, but I need to open the files with the desktop.

Did the user exist in both servers or domain?

Yes, both servers have  the local user qlik01. In QMC I have authentication by user, not machine.

If you want to copy the QlikView documents from your original server Srv01, there is no other way than to obtain access to the server (through RDP), or to the Srv01 file system (via a temporary share on the document Root folder) or to a SysAdmin that can copy (and zip) the documents and hand them over to you. The last one is the easiest. Ask your SysAdmin to include all .shared files as well, or you'll loose all server objects.

As soon as server Srv01 shuts down service QVS.exe, there is no more licensing going on or document distribution for that matter. The original AP won't display any documents, and QV Desktop cannot connect to the QVS because it is not running. QV Desktop will not be able to copy those files for you.

Best,

Peter

I have the copy, the "only" problem is that when I try to open them on srvr02, I don't have access in the Qlikview desktop, I get de message "Access denied to this QlikView document".

Any ideas?

Thanks

On the new server Srv02, did you assign Named/Doc CALs again, just like you did on Srv01? QlikView CALs are not floating licenses. A CAL from one server won't work for accessing another server. Those are separate worlds.

Note: a license lease from one server will enable your QV Desktop for at least 30 days. After that and with a disabled Srv01, you will have to assign a Named CAL to yourself on Srv02 and go lease your license overthere.

Best,

Peter
