Hi All,
It would be of great help if anybody can send me screenshots of how we can check with QA and PROD without using Test Server License when we have the below configuration on infrastructure and license..
QA/Test : VM : 2 Server (1 app Server and 1 Publisher)
PROD :
License : QV Enterprise Server License
VM : 2 Server (1 app Server and 1 Publisher)
I have one query,So as per the development standards, is there any best approach that we can go ahead without having test license and have QA and PROD? or we can mitigate the risks by avoiding the QA env.
We can have QA and PROD on same server with single license. But we have to maintain different folder structure for QA and PROD.
Hope this will help you more. Thanks.
There is no intrinsic "need" for QV to have multiple environments. You can do your development and testing using QV desktop and have a single Production server. In small scale environments, that would probably be the recommended approach.
In larger environments, with a multiperson development team, a multi server environment would be better, and you could use a test server for a user testing and QA environment and an enterprise server for the PROD environment. The requirement is really a business driven decision.
Of course these are only two steps in a range of possible setups. that is why you should speak to your local Qlikview supplier or partner for more detailed advice and pricing for your particular needs.
Reducing costs usually means increasing risks. If you run both QA and PROD on the same machine, the high risk development/test environment may have an adverse effect on your critical PROD business environment in more than one way. If the data volume, the number of documents and number of users are rather low, you could consider starting with a single server license. But then you wouldn't be using an Enterprise Edition server I guess.
