QVServer reload are much more slower than local reload

Hello,

Im using QV for several years now and QVServer reloads was always faster than my local reloads. But, for a while now (Maybe since the migrate from QV11 to QV12 but not sure...), reloads from QVServer are much MUCH slower than my local reloads using my destkop version.

Just an example: 23min in local reload and 1h10min with QVServer.

This behavior concern all applications.

  • My local hardware, used for local reload with desktop version:

Intel Core i5-62000U CPU 2.40 GHz

16 Go RAM

x64

  • The QV Server informations:

Is there something wrong with the server settings ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks

The Distribution Service in QlikView 12 is more intensive in the use of resources (namely, RAM and CPU) than QlikView 11.20. This may lead, as it did in our case, to lots of tasks competing for those resources, and it turn, taking longer instead of faster to reload.

There are some settings you can adjust, starting by the number of concurrent tasks (I don't know your environment and tasks, but somewhere between 4 and 6, no more than that) and others you can find in the Qlik Support portal, such as

We also had other non-QlikView related issues like connecting to active directory, which was taking a lot more time than usual and we had to tweak those queries.

We had the same issue. We used a virtual machine in the past. The Service was taking much longer than on local machine. Especially after Update to Version 12.x. We had 48 GB RAM but QV just used 20 GB for the Service and reload. We tried several different setting in the server settings, but without success.

We then switched to a hardware machine with 128 GB RAM and now there will be almost 90 GB RAM allocated and the reload is a bit faster than on local machin but compared to our previous machine it take almost 4 hours less to reload the files.

Maybe you try to upgrade your RAM or try a hardware server if you use VM.

You also should check that the QV Version on you local machine is the same on your server.
