QlikView Server Upgrade (10 SR2 to 11)

Hello,

I am planning to upgrade our server from Version 10 SR2 to Version 11 Build 11149

I am not sure the order of steps to follow based on my outline below.  If I have missed some items, could someone help me add on some checkpoints so no data is loss during this upgrade?

Steps:

* Backup ?

* Download  "QlikViewServer_x64Setup.exe"          (QV 11 Build 11149)

* Stop All QlikView Services (QV Directory Service Connector; QV Directory Service; QV Management Service; QV Server; QV WebServer)

* Uninstall "QlikVIew Server x64" via Control Panel Programs and Features

* Install "QlikViewServer_x64Setup.exe"

* Reboot Server

* Restart All QlikView Services

Much Appreciate Your Help!

You should look at this document.

Did I miss something important in my outlined steps?

I assume there is no change to the file system structure, so all my existing production QVW files and management console will remain intact during the upgrade.

I appreciate your help!

You should really look at the document.

I would backup all files first, including qlikview configuration files and I would also recommend you to test all applications, tasks, etc. in QV11 before doing the production server migration.

Also, QV11 requires .NET Framework 4.0, so make sure you have that installed before migrating.

Yea.  I backed up QlikTech Folder.

When I install QV 11, do I still choose FULL INSTALLATION, even though I am upgrading from QV 10?

Thanks for your help!

BTW, I don't think I need .NET Framework 4.0 since I am using QV WebServices.

Like Daniel said, read the document. It has detailed step by step instructions on how to perform in-place upgrades (like yours), service re-locationing, multi-machine upgrades and scale-out upgrade scenarios.

But in your case, it should basically be a pretty straight forward next-next installation, only. The 11 installation will ask you to uninstall 10 before installing 11. If you are not moving services around or changing anything, this should be very easy. Just make sure to backup your data first, as always.

I have done a similar upgrade from QV9 to QV11 and my reports all seem to work from the fat client but a number of them refuse to appear in the Access Portal despite being published successfully.

Do I need to run a conversion on the reports ?

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade QlikView Server & Publisher 10 to QlikView Server & Publisher 11.

I've check out the document that Daniel has recommended but I still have doubts about Publisher migration.

It first says that when performing an in-place upgrade of a QlikView Server & Publisher 10 to 11, the

Publisher tasks will be automatically migrated, converting QVPR database to the 11 format.

But after that, it mentions that QV Server 11 Management Service will try to locate version 9 QVPR.

Why? The topic is migrating from QV10 to 11 version; not from 9.

Thanks!

That part about QlikView 9 shouldn't be there.

QVPR path is the same for QV10 and QV11, there are no extra steps you should do when migrating tasks between QV10 and QV11 with a Publisher license, just back them up before you do it and verify they work after you do it.
