Qlikview User Licensing on multiple desktops

Hi All

Apologies if this is already covered under a different thread.

I'm trying to get my head around qlikview user licensing. With one named user license, would this give one user access to one or multiple qvws across different desktops?

If I have a laptop and also use a desktop and have qlikview software installed on both machines, can I login as myself and open/modify the same qvw across both these machines?

Thanks for your help.

A Named User CAL allows a single AD User to lease a licence on 2 hardware client,s e.g. one laptop & one desktop.

Having done so both hardware clients will be running fully licenced QLikView and will be able to open any qvw's they have AD permission to.

Thanks Bill.

Is this a limit of 2 applied by Qliktech on named user license? Just wondering if someone would like to lease a license on multiple desktops with a hot desk policy.

This only applies to the QV Desktop and yup the 2 hardware client limit is a limit enforced by QlikTech in the QlikView Product.

We have a Development server which developers connect to via RDP, so that means they could hot desk and since always RDP 'ing to the same Development server that is only a single hardware client and then the 2nd hardware client can be a laptop.

Yes that could be another option of setting up a development server which developers can connect to hence reusing the license.

Cheers Bill.

I think you may look for "leasing from Server" option.

You can have QlikView server with Named Licenses.

Then every user just have to lease it from the server to their desktop or laptop by using their AD account credentials. (QlikView server must have AD configured)
