SMTP Configuration is not working

Dear All,

We are using Qlikview 11.2 SR8.

Currenly we are trying to configure our Lotus SMTP server as shown in below screenshot.

When I'm trying to send a test mail using my email id, Status message is showing as " Email was sent successfully" , however I'm not receiving any email from server.

Even when Task Failed also I;m not receiving any email from server.

Kindly help me if I'm missing any settings to be done.

@P.S, same SMTP server is successfully configured with our  IBM Cognos server.

Dear All,

Finally I figured out what was causing the issue.

Issue is not with the relay server or port number. All are fine.

The From Adress I was giving is a not a valid email adress. I thought we can put dummy email adress as a sender(like in IBM Cognos). Eventually I realized it won't work. From Email Adress also should be a valid one.

I tried with my Email in From adress and I got both emails(Test email and Reload task failed email ) from server instantly.

Thank you all for spending time in this thread.

The settings seem correct as a test email was succesfully delivered to the SMTP server. If you don't receive the email then check in your Spam bin. Perhaps you can also find out what happened to that mail in the logs of your SMTP server.

I don't see any email in my Junk. I wil  check with my SMTP server team and will post the out come.

Hii,

Also check with your team whether any firewall settings for mails  and whether SMTP server is required user id and password while sending mails.

Hi Chinna,

you can test TELNET command to send e-mail and check default port.

Hi,

Send email using bmail.exe file. it's free tool.

if you get email from that, something that we have to do with QV QMC, Otherwise it's issue with your company's relay server.

Hi Karthi,

I tried to send email using bmail. I can see the message has "Message accepted for Delivery".

However I haven't received any email . I waited for 30 mins. I think it might be issue with the relay server.

It seems in my configuration, I do not required user id and password. I tried without userid and passowrd also.still i'm not receiving any message.

wil check with my email team and update.

Hi Chinna,

Is that the email address format was not in place or we should have Address registered in mail server ?

Because in most cases dummy addresses with valid email format was working fine for me. Just curious.

HI Karthik,

I have done few more tests. Here are the results.

1. With valid(registered) From adress, I'm receiving emails with both options Authentication method(either Anaonymous or Usernamed and password).

2. If I enter dummy From adress with similar email format or if I left blank the From adress box, I'm not getting emails(Test email or Actual alter email) from server.


Not sure, why it is not accepting dummy email adress in "From Adress". It might be limitation with Lotus SMTP or not sure Qlikview limitation.

Hope this clears few more doubts.
