Session CALS: Multiconnexion of a same user on several computers or several browsers

We have a Website (hosted by SharePoint) from where we can access to our QlikView Extranet Server (QV11 SR3). The connection information is transfered to QlikView through an SSO Method (QlikView header name method).

We have 10 Concurrent CALs.

When a same user logs on at the same time from 2 different computers or 2 different browsers, it consumes 2 CAL licenses.

1- Is that the normal behavior?

2- What should we do to avoid the second connection? Indeed, we wouldn't like the consumption of an another CAL by the same user.

Thanks,

S.

Hi S,

This is the way the session cal will work. as defined is a session cal, every opened session will consume a cal.

the option will be user cal, user will consume a cal per user no matter of number sessions

We understand that it prevents license abuse if multiple users utilize the same credentials. But how do you do in an QV Extranet environment: our customer will provide a session CAL for each of its client. How do you prevent one client to give its license credential to multiple employees who will then consume the session CALS foreseen for the
other clients. Can QV avoid that a user name/pw is used by multiple persons simultaneously ?

Best regards,

S.
