Variable Values Disappear When Deployed to Server??

Sure I'm missing something obvious with this but I have quite a bizzare issue:

I have a rather complex dashboard that contains 50 or so variables used in Set Analysis etc etc, these have been created and behave fine when run locally however when I've deployed the document to the server (v9 SR6) the document has reloaded as required but every single variable is now blank - the names are still present?

The Variable values are manually set and not defined in the load script.

I know this isn't normal but can't fathom what I'm missing!

Any advice gratefully received.

Variable values are lost if you open the document with no data. Best practice should always be define the variables in the script.
