Windows System Resource Manager

We are facing repeated server failures due to memory exhaustion caused by QlikView (critical system tasks failing, server crashes, etc).

It seems there is no proper way in QlikView to limit overall memory usage by the application so we are looking for alternatives. One alternative is to use the Windows System Resource Manager to limit how much memory the application/user/process is allowed to allocate.

Has anyone followed this path in trying to constrain QlikView memory usage?

Most of the time this is cause by either a server with needing more memory or a poorly designed QVW. How much memory is in the server?

128GB but what I understand is that QV will always benefit from more memory so adding more memory would just be postponing a problem in the future, right?

As for a poorly designed QVW, that's a people issue and for sure the best way to solve the issue but it can be a can of worms, depending on a lot of factors.

From an IT perspective, it would be better to ensure we have a safenet when it comes to keeping the servers healthy. That's the point of my question.

If you have a poorly designed qvw, it doesn't matter how much memory you throw at it the problem will still occur. Also, reducing the amount of memory QVS will use will only give the end users poor preformance.

I agree with your point of view, just looking for additional ways to prevent servers from crashing.

Anyone has experience using WSRM in this way?
