lease client license on a terminal server from another server

Hi Friends,

we have a regional qlikview server, whose license will be expiring in a few more days, and there are no plans to extend the this license, and so after the license expiry this Terminal would just remain as a QlikView development client. Mean while we are trying to lease the client license on Regional server from Global environment (another QlikView server), but after repeated attempts to lease the license, we are not able to lease the license from Global server.

Would like to know if any restriction as - when qlikview server is installed on a machine, we cant lease the client license from another server for the same machine?

Hi,

maybe you could open the qlik client and set the location of the global server:

user settings - locations - default license lease server (URL)

set the qvp://Globalserver URL

There is no such issue in leasing license from different server.

Just make sure port 4747 is open.

The telnet works perfectly, and tried setting the locations to Global server's URL, doesn't seems to help either

any other alternatives friends?

Are you trying to lease a license from a test server? It is prohibited.

Thanks for you reply, I am trying to lease from production server which is currently in operation, indeed I am able to lease the license from the same server on other machines, only problem is with our regional server.

Hi Rajesh,

I remember QlikTech was planing to restrict License to regions.

I don't know whether that is implement.

If yes, that could be one of the reason.
