I would not recommend using this chart (not Alexander's great example, but my graphic above) as it can be very misleading, even if it has a nice look to it.
Nice implementation. I like the "square pie" better than the traditional as the data is much more readable at a glance.

It's a normal Pie Chart with some white text boxes overlaid in the Top Layer to 'square the circle'.
