Qlik Statement of Direction 2016

Had a lot of questions about the SoD so I'm posting a copy on Qlik Community. Please note this document will expire on 31/12/16 and will be replaced by a new version on 01/12/17. This document is also available at the following URL

Excited for Qlik Sense 3.0! Though this didn't make any mention of NPrinting for Qlik Sense

Thanks Tim.  We have continued to evolve our NPrinting strategy based on customer feedback and as a result in the SoD only refer in somewhat generic terms to planned delivery of operational and managed reporting for Qlik Sense leveraging the NPrinting technology.  However, I can confirm that the forthcoming release of Qlik NPrinting 17.1 will provide support and connectivity for Qlik Sense, in addition to QlikView.  There will be no extra license cost for Qlik Sense connectivity for those customers who already own licenses for Qlik NPrinting and currently leverage it against their QlikView deployments. Not only will users be able to now generate Qlik NPrinting reports from Qlik Sense, they will also be able to create reports which combine artefacts from both Qlik Sense and QlikView. Furthermore reports generated can now be delivered to and therefore accessible in the new Qlik Sense 3.0 hub.

Great Info. Thanks.

Reading the statement about Qlikview it looks like that there are no plans for QlikView 13 and the major support will end around beginning of 2018?

Hi Robert.  You are right that this makes no mention of "QlikView 13" simply because we have not currently announced any plans this. We have however committed to an annual feature release of QlikView 12 (see page 16 in the statement of direction) and as we first communicated at Qonnections 2016 we plan to release QlikView 12.1 in late 2016. This release will focus on a number of enterprise and performance enhancements. However, your statement regarding support is incorrect. Our policy as stated on page 22 of the statement of direction sets out our intent to support each major release for a minimum period of 2 years following the subsequent major release. So because QlikView 12 is the current major release, that clock has effectively not started, and hence we are committed to long-term support for it or until we release a subsequent major release which itself would then be supported under the same policy. Hope that clarifies. James
