What is the difference between the Desktop and Full edition?

Hello KlickiBunti - you can see more detail here http://community.qlik.com/message/252391#252391- in short - Desktop creates the Dataflows to provision data (make it available) for QlikView.

Desktop is free - similiar to that of QV Personal Edition.

The Full Version is fee based and includes the engine that allows you to execute them on another workstation and the Repository for design time model component storage, sharing and version control.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, that was quick!

I have installed the full version, will I still be able to use the functionality of the Desktop edition until we buy a license? We have a QV enterprise server edition license already.

Yes - the Desktop version is fully functional. You can create Dataflows, access many sources, transform data and create .QVX data files for QlikView applications to use by writing them to disk.

However you are only restricted from executing Dataflows using the QVE engine - known as the etask.exe program. This would be used in a situation where someone might want to schedule the creation of a QVX datafile (future product will also write QVD) to be ready for use on a regular basis, as is normally down with QVD creation and QlikView script.

The full version also includes the QlikView Expressor Connector - this will allow you to use QlikView Desktop to access the create Dataflows and stream the results, which would normally be written to the Write QlikView operator as a .QVX file, directly into a QlikView application as a table model.

Please review the companion videos if you would like to get a better sense of it in action.

Is Expressor Studio deprecated or phased-out? The last version is from 2012 - I think. Besides, it is not easy to get references to that product in the website of Qlik, let alone to download it. Thanks.

Hello Ernesto,

Thanks for your question.

QlikView Expressor as a product has reached its final stable build version 3.12. At this point it has been discontinued and is no longer available for download or sale. From there we have been investing our time and energy taking what we have learned from the Expressor acquisition, people, software, talent, expertise etc and applying it to newer and more modern data governance and data preparation capabilities within Qlik Sense. Hope this helps.

Mike Tarallo

Hi Michael,

Is it there any chance to get QVE to those who still use QlikView, and are not involved into QlikSense?

Regards,

Santiago.
